Interesting Story

An interesting story that happened in my life was when I went to India for my fourth grade summer vacation. My grandparents and I were planning on going to the zoo in a popular city called Ahmdavad. The plan was that my uncle would pick us up and then we would all end up going to the zoo together. This was a very famous zoo that many people went to on a daily basis because of the outstanding animals they had to display. However unfortunately, but fortunately we ended up not going to the zoo because it was raining real hard. Since it was raining really hard we knew that taking a trip to the zoo would not be nearly as much fun as it would be if we rescheduled it to a better date when it was nice outside. When we were just going to spend the time sitting and hanging out as a family. Afterwards we turned on the tv and saw that there was a bomb going off on the route of our way to the zoo. We were all so relieved that we were not killed that day and we were truly blessed and protected by God. We could have died if we would have gone to the zoo and watch the animals. This was a life lesson on how God really does protect me and watch out for me! I think this is a good short story because it was a real story that happened with a good moral and lesson.

The Final Four

The book I have chosen for this semester is called The Final Four by Paul Valponi, The author of this book has written other books and another that some students at John Carroll are familiar is the book Black and White. I picked this book because I enjoy reading about sports it is just a part of who I am. It seemed interesting to read and I thought I would enjoy reading this book. The main character of this book is Malcom. He grew up in the streets of New York where the area was hood like. His uncle would teach him how to play and he fell in love with the game. It kept him away from the troubles he could have faced in the areas he lived in and he was focused all day everyday on basketball. This story is about the final four of ncaa basketball. These are the final four teams to determine who will be the champion of ncaa basketball for the year. The dream of Malcom is to make the NBA and he has to succeed on this stage and lead his team to victory here while Roko is playing for the pride of his home country Crotia. It comes down to these two men to lead their teams to victory and it will depend upon which player has more skill, but ultimately which player has the will and heart to do anything to win.

Young Illegal Immigrants
As the law has cracked down on illegal immigration hundreds of thousands kids have had their father, mother, or both erased from their lives left alone with some having serious mental issues. These illegal immigrants work hard for a new life. They come here to live the American dream, but do they get deported and all their hard work goes to waste. Many people have worked for a job opportunity here in America because they had no hope in their home country, but are deported because they have come here illegally. These kids work hard and are focused on education. They also help the economy and it ruins their lives. The young immigrants have come here to America because of the faults of their parents, they have only known America to be their home, and should not be punished for the mistakes of their parents and be deported.
The young aliens come into America focusing on their studies, education, and they work hard with the hope of being a successful American. Research has shown that foreign born immigrants have more opportunity to create jobs and have created over 450,000 thousand jobs through high technology companies they have made according to a paper written by Matthew Sloughter (“Skilled Immigrants Create Jobs”). These young immigrants have seen how hard life can be by the example of their parents. They see how their parents have to work for hours on hard labor jobs where most would refuse to do, which therefor teaches them that having a good education and learning gives them the opportunity to not have to do hard labor jobs. Studies have shown that the son/daughter of an illegal immigrant is more focused on their own studies than most citizens according to (“Young Immigrants”). The majority of people for deporting these immigrants do not realize how much hard work these kids and parents have put forth to live for America and in America. The people that are arguing to be kept are not those who are committing crimes, but are those that are focused on their studies and trying to solve America’s problems. Also these kids have tremendous pressure on themselves to get good grades and they are reminded time after time how much their parents have had to give up to live here in America for their children’s sake so they could get a good education and have a better life and potential then the parents had as kids.
Deportation of themselves or just their parents can affect the mental health of the child of having their parents taken away and maybe not having the possibility of not ever seeing them again according to Wessler. They also have to live with the fear of the police, which are supposed to be here to help us not scare us. The deportation of any family member affects the entire family in many ways. It can make the family have to move immediately because of the mental threat the kids may face from school or just not being able to provide. The focus is mostly on young immigrants because they have not done anything wrong and have been brought here by their parents forcefully and are left with mental issues. Studies have shown that 16.6 million families are mixed status which means that there are at least one or more family members that are illegal (“Policies Wreak Havoc On U.S. Communities”). Although President Obama has made a law that prevents children to get deported, but that is still splitting families and destroying the lives of children who could have gone on to do amazing things. There was a 9 year old girl whose parents had been taken and deported while she was left all by herself and ended up with major mental issues accord to Arshard. These families want to be a part of America, be considered part of society and help, and they want to live the American life as an American.
This is also not a good use of the money and time of America as a nation these people actually end up helping the economy and if they are legalized would help the economy regain momentum rapidly. Vivek Wadha said, “Most immigrants that came here from India on a student visa and are not give legality go back to India with their education and create great business.” These kids have gained a great education not available in their homeland and are sent back with the potential to create many jobs and help their economy. These are the type of kids America needs to progress the economy, but they are being sent away (Preston). The young illegal immigrants are not only some of the brightest kids that America has, but also some of the brightest kids in the entire world. Unfortunately their full potential cannot be achieved because they are here illegally (“At Issue”). President Obama said, “ Not only is deporting these immigrants the wrong thing for the country and economy, many CEO’s would agree with me on this, it is the right thing to do just in general.”
This is also not a good use of the money and time of America as a nation these people actually end up helping the economy. If they are legalized they would be able to help the economy regain momentum rapidly. It is not a good resource for the nation to use its money and time for deporting illegal immigrants that are actually helping the country. It would be a disappointment to use tax payer’s money to deport these people while they are known to call America their home and that is the country they are passionate about (ProQuest Staff). These children are creating many jobs anywhere they go and that is something that we need here in America. Also these kids are becoming the jobs that big corporations need to run a business here, but not enough people qualify (“At Issue”). President Obama is keeping the dream alive for many of these kids with the effort he has to make it more possible for them to become legal (Biron). These kids have sacrificed many things to have the American education and one of them is freedom and all their talent and potential has gone to was (Preston).
These people are using taxpayers money to live off of and do not deserve to live in America. They are taking jobs that are supposed to be given to legal American citizens that deserve not to be jobless. These people are just taking advantage of fooling this country and its using the country’s money to provide for themselves. This country is inhabited by immigrants and will always be also these people are doing the hard working jobs Americans are not willing to do. Most of these people want to be legal and will pay taxes to be legal. Also they are making more jobs for the American people if they get the correct opportunities.  The solutions are still being made by the government and President Obama. It is taking a long time however to meet in between on the issue of either legalizing or deporting immigrants that have come to America illegally. The government has worked on many laws, but they have to work on improvements on agreeing.
Young immigrants come into America because of their parents faults not their own and are tagged as illegals  in America, however the only place they call home is America and they are being punished in this country not because of their wrongdoings it is because of their parents. This topic is one of the main issues in America right now and there is so much effort going into this topic in our government (Preston).
